Impressive Rise in Regional Rankings
For the first time, New York Institute of Technology ranks among the top 15 universities in the North, improving its position to No. 15 in the regional ranking, and for the 14th consecutive year is ranked among the top 50 universities in the North in the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges ranking.
In addition to the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance student success and experiences and improve overall graduation rates, New York Tech’s strong ranking position is supported by improved Pell Grant graduation and first-year retention rates, along with increasing social mobility ranks.
New York Tech’s 2025 rankings include:
- #15 Best Regional Universities (North), up from #21 in the 2024 ranking
- #5 Best Colleges for Veterans (Regional Universities North), maintaining last year’s position
- #38 Top Performer in Social Mobility (Regional Universities North), up from #50 last year
- #37 Best Undergraduate Engineering (National, no doctorate), up from #49 last year
In the Regional Universities North group, New York Tech maintained its position in the rankings above all other private universities on Long Island and was the second most highly ranked private university in the New York metropolitan area. New York Tech ranked seventh among all public and private universities in the state.
“New York Tech’s rankings continue to rise thanks in large part to the outstanding efforts of our faculty, staff, and students,” says President Henry C. Foley, Ph.D. “These rankings validate the hard work of our community of doers, makers, and innovators, as well as our commitment to academic excellence, technology-enriched education, and creating the best student experiences possible.” Now in its 40th year, the U.S. News & World Report rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.
